Pandemic Diary: SIP Day 35

April 20, 2020

I’ve been thinking a lot about the differences between loneliness and solitude.

You don’t have to be alone to feel lonely. Ask any awkward teenager at a crowded high school. Whether you’re in the company of thousands, or in the company of your very favorite people on the planet, it’s still possible to feel lonely, and it’s still possible to want to be left alone.

My solo hikes and walks are a healing and much needed source of solitude right now.
